5 Free Agents Still Out There That Could Help The Packers

As much as I think the Packers are one of the best teams in the NFC, there are still some holes that this team needs to fill before week 1 of the 2025 NFL regular season.

Below are 5 free agents that are still available, that I think can improve positions of need, depth and stability.

CB Kendall Fuller

ree

Kendall Fuller had 5 pass breakups and an interception last season at age 30 with the Miami Dolphins. Missing time with injuries while playing just 52% of snaps, he was ultimately cut from the team. Adding Fuller can give our cornerback room some much needed depth, and playing behind Nixon, Hobbs and Valentine, means not having to be on the field 100% of the time that would hopefully lead to a more fresh body when called upon.

TE Jordan Akins

ree

We have Tucker Kraft... but who else? My hopes are as high as can be for Luke Musgrave, but so far through 2 seasons, we have seen very little production out of the 42nd overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. Akins had 40 catches, 390 yards and 2 TD last year with the Browns. Jordan Akins, a veteran, can provide some much needed depth to our TE room.

CB Rasul Douglas

ree

Rasul Douglas, a name we are all familiar with, would be a smart addition to our football team. The cornerback room is so bare that we had Bo Melton practicing with the group last week during minicamp. Rasul tallied 58 tackles, 5 passes defended and 1 forced fumble last year with the Bills. He is by far my favorite from this list of hopefuls that we may see added to our squad.

CB Asante Samuel Jr.

ree

You can see the trend here, Asante Samuel Jr. would be another cornerback option for the Packers. However, he ended the year on IR after just 13 total tackles during the 4 games he played in. It would be a risky move to bring him in, but if he can stay healthy, a good depth piece for the cornerback room overall.

QB Tyler Huntley

ree

Malik Willis is the backup... for now. With how well he's played, I wouldn't be surprised to see him on another team competing for a starting job in 2026, or sooner. Tyler Huntley would be an option to stash on the practice squad until Malik Willis departs for another team. I think Malik is good enough to compete for a starting job on at least 5 other teams around the league, but with Jordan under center, he won't get that opportunity here. We witnessed how important it is to have a viable backup QB option, and once Malik Willis is gone, Tyler Huntley could be that option.
